Dominic Dracon
Mace Malone and Dominic Dracon in the 1920's.

Dominic Dracon is an infamous New York mobster who has been in the business since at least the 1920s. He is the father of Dino Dracon and grandfather of Antoinette and Tony Dracon, all three of whom followed him into the "family business".

Dominic Dracon has also been known as D.D., and has used the alias G.F. Benton.

History

Born in 1902, Dominic Dracon and Mace Malone were partners in the 1920s, until Malone's disappearance. [1] As the Dracon Family rose in prominence, for a time, Dominic served as Pater Familias to the Five Families. He also raised his two sons, Anthony and Dino... favoring Anthony (whom, sometime before 1994, was killed).

Since Malone disappeared with the diamonds that he and Dominic had recently stolen, without sharing them first, Dominic began to search diligently for both Mace Malone and the diamonds, even moving into Malone's old office at 3150 3rd Avenue, 45D, to locate some possible clues, under the alias of "G.F. Benton", a CPA. He discovered from a letter of Malone's a clue that the jewels were located within a "silver falcon", and assumed this to be the Silver Falcon night club that Malone had once operated; he therefore tore the club down hoping to find them, but failed. Decades later, his grandson Tony searched for the diamonds in the foundation. In the end, however, Elisa Maza revealed to the Dracons that the "silver falcon" was actually one of the sculptures atop the Apex Tower. [2] To Dominic's disappointment, however, the falcon in question contained merely a briefcase with some marbles and a mocking note from Malone. Absolutely crushed, he was easily arrested by Elisa along with his grandson. ("The Silver Falcon") The utter shock of discovering what had really been concealed in the "silver falcon", and the destruction of his seventy-year-old hopes, was too much for him. [3] Dominic was soon immured in Bellevue Hospital, where it was argued that he was suffering from dementia (at least according to the Dracon Family's lawyers).

In May, 1997, he was released. His granddaughter, Antoinette, telling him that the lawyers advised him to keep up the "dotty old man act". Both also expressed concern about Dino Dracon's upcoming release. ("A Little Crazy", "Idyll or Nightmare") Upon being released, Dino quickly took the reigns of the family and set to work to crush the other gangs and assume complete control of the city, often speaking of his plans to Dominic (who acted as consiglieri, albeit one not always aware of what was happening). As Dino's plans began to crumble, Izaak Slaughter called for a summit and Dino planned to send Dominic to represent the Dracons. But unbeknownst to Dominic, Dino planned to kill everyone in attendance with a bomb he had planted. When the Manhattan Clan arrived and disposed of the bomb, Dino appeared - planning to finish everyone off personally. But before he could, Dominic told Dino that his older brother, Anthony, would never have behaved this way. Dino lost his temper and revealed that he was the one who murdered Anthony. Without hesitation, Dominic shot his second son - whom seemingly fell to his death. ("Cold Comfort")

Following the apparent death of Dino Dracon, hostilities between the Six Families ceased with Dominic resuming his role as Pater Familias. However - as he appears to genuinely be suffering from dementia - Antoinette has control of him who in turn has given control of the Six Families to Demona. ("Cold Comfort")

After the events of "The Silver Falcon", Dominic Dracon, devastated over the fruitless outcome of his seventy-year-hunt for the stolen jewels, was sent to Ravencroft.
