WHOA. You can NOT take exact quotes from Wikipedia. That is plaugerism. I'm deleting it at once. I'm not trying to get down on you (Samuel), but it is a serious issue. We're already blacklisted (for stuff that isn't even our fault). We need to be very careful and circumspect.

Also, why are there links to Mayan gods here? This is a place article, not a Children of Oberon article. I don't understand what it adds to the article. - Vaevictis Asmadi 10:00, 16 June 2007 (CDT)

You absolutely can take exact quotes from Wikipedia. Since Wikipedia works under the GNU Free Documentation License, any information that it contains is "free", and everyone has "the effective freedom to copy and redistribute it, with or without modifying it, either commercially or noncommercially". However, just because we can copy from Wikipedia doesn't necessarily mean that we should, but that's another problem. Using a couple of introductory paragraphs for some background reading is probably okay.
As for the links to Mayan gods, I think they provide interesting information about the place's namesakes. We might even consider providing similar links for other articles (Goliath linking to the Biblical figure, maybe?). I don't know, but I don't have a problem with them. If you do have a problem with them, then you're free to remove them. -- Supermorff 12:19, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
I'm very confused then -- because I've read statements that say the exact opposite. I also read (on Wikipedia's GNU article) that the GNU "requires all copies and derivatives to be available under the same license" which I think would apply to any material copied into Gargwiki, and require us to register under GNU if we want to copy GNU material word-for-word. However, you (Supermorff) seem to know more about this GNU License than I do. My apologies, Samuel. - Vaevictis Asmadi 13:50, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
Uh, yeah. That could be right. I hadn't really considered that we weren't using GNU. We really need to work out what sort of license we're using at GargWiki. But not here. GargWiki talk:Copyrights maybe? -- Supermorff 08:42, 18 June 2007 (CDT)
