Disney's Gargoyles Cinestory was going to be an adaptation of the five-part "Awakening" using screen captures from the original animation. [1] It was announced to be released by Joe Books Ltd. on March 30th, 2016; then it was rescheduled for May 4th, 2016; July 12th, 2016; May 17th, 2017; and September 27, 2017 before it was finally revealed that the cinestory was quietly cancelled.[2]

Greg Weisman had mixed feelings on its cancellation. He did a lot of unpaid work on it that turned out to be for nothing; but he didn't think it was a great idea in the first place, and wasn't sure how many people, even hardcore fans, would want it. [3]
