Is this page canon now? The title "Redemption Squad" wasn't named in "Strangers", but the group itself was seen. What do you think? --Matt 08:39, 30 November 2007 (CST)
Yes, it's canon.
I'm kind of wary of linking "angels" in this case. We're still very unclear about the nature of angels in the gargoyles universe: whether they even exist and exactly what they are if they do. But given that there are so many fantastical beings in the Gargoyles universe and the the possibility that angels may exist has been raised, the link could potentially confuse people into thinking that the Redemption Squad literally fights alongside actual angels. If a character said "By Jove!" at some point, you wouldn't link it to Jove because the expression
really has nothing to do with the character or the Greek god he's named for. You could just as easily substitute a phrase like "My word!" which has nothing at all to do with Jove and the meaning would be the same, just as you could say that the Redemption Squad is a group of former villains now fighting for justice, keeping the meaning without any reference to angels. -- Demonskrye 21:05, 30 May 2008 (CDT)
- I agree. It was used as a figure of speech, not a reference. Guess I got a little carried away, lol. -- Matt 22:04, 30 May 2008 (CDT)
- Not a problem. Since we really only have one direct reference to actual angels in the series, I imagine that page isn't linked to much and it's tempting to try and find it a few more link opportunities. -- Demonskrye 06:52, 31 May 2008 (CDT)
Federal Response
Sooo, I was browsing through the archives and I found this response from Greg back in 2000. [1] Obviously, the phrase 'crack team of expendable agents' makes me think of the Redemption Squad, but I figured I'd post it here before working it into any article. (Personally, I would have loved to have seen the Comment Room archives from 2000, cause any debate around this response would probably have been brought up then.) -- Pheon 21:19, 7 May 2011 (PDT)
- That is indeed the Redemption Squad. Greg said at the 1998 Gathering that one of the missions the RS gets sent on by the Director is to take down the gargoyles. GregX 22:03, 7 May 2011 (PDT)
- Nice. Thanks for the confirmation :) -- Pheon 23:33, 7 May 2011 (PDT)
