Diablo (real name: Esteban Corazón de Ablo) is is a supervillain, an alchemist, and an enemy of the Fantastic Four.
History
In 1094, de Ablo captured the gargoyle rookling, Angelika, and hid her in his laboratory in Valencia, planning to bleed her in order to fuel his Elixir Vitae to become "something more than human." But Demona freed Angelika and threatened to behead the "sorcerer", but de Ablo reminded her that he wasn't an alchemist - a man of science before summoning his dark powers forcing the two gargoyles to flee.
By the "present day", long since renaming himself "Diablo", the alchemist entered into a bargain with David Xanatos to obtain immortality. Still requiring gargoyle blood to fuel his elixir, Diablo captured the gargoyle, Isaac Christians, but found the blood diluted due to Christians' nature as a human soul possessing the body of a dead gargoyle - so he schemed to capture one of the Manhattan Clan by allowing Christians to escape in order to warn them. As this happened, Xanatos raided a Stark Industries building, stealing a pod containing the android, Dragon Man. As this took place, Diablo hired the Grey Gargoyle to go on a rampage across the Brooklyn Bridge. Diablo's scheme drew the attention of the Manhattan Clan and the Fantastic Four, and in the confrontation on the bridge, both Angela and Mister Fantastic found themselves petrified. Xanatos delivered the pod and reminded Diablo of his promise to share immortality once the elixir was ready, and Diablo released Dragon Man from the pod to protect his lab from any would-be intruders.
During the clan and the Four's battle with Dragon Man, Diablo used his powers to kidnap the petrified form of Angela and invoked Mephisto in order to undo the Grey Gargoyle's actions. While Broadway and the Invisible Woman attempted to stop him, the alchemist detected their presence and immobilized them. However, Coldstone had earlier alerted Demona who arrived, brandishing the head of Gungnir and after mocking the "man of science", she defeated Diablo before taking her leave. Broadway, Angela, and the Invisible Woman restrained Diablo for capture by the authorities. ("Both Alike In Dignity...")

Production Background
Diablo was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in Fantastic Four #30 (September 1964).
Esteban Corazón de Ablo was a court alchemist in 9th century Saragossa. Isolated and obsessive, he made a pact with Mephisto, trading his soul for longer life as he sought the secret of immortality. Over the years, his mastery of alchemy advanced to the point where he could break the known laws of science, but it was not enough.
