The Gremlin (real name: Kondrati Topolov) is a Russian supervillain and son of Yuri Topolov.

History

At some point, Kondrati and his father Yuri Topolov entered into an alliance with Coldsteel and Annihilus of the Negative Zone. The Topolovs agreed to deliver the android Draconus to the extradimensional warlord in exchange for the raw ores necessary to synthesize Adamantium with which they planned to make both Kondrati's Titanium Man armor and Coldsteel's robot frame indestructible.

As part of their plot, Kondrati and his father infiltrated the Baxter Building in order to secure Draconus and access Mister Fantastic's Negative Zone portal. While Kondrati entered the Negative Zone to complete the bargain with Annihilus, Yuri remained behind with Coldsteel to guard the Negative Zone portal from the Manhattan Clan and Fantastic Four. When the heroes managed to rescue Draconus from Kondrati’s clutches, Annihilus turned on his former “partner”, leaving Kondrati stranded in the Negative Zone. ("Clan and Family...")

Characteristics

Kondrati Topolov is a bald human of dwarfish stature with a over enlarged cranium and youthful face. Yuri pilots a suit of Titanium Man armor.

Appearances

Production Background

The Gremlin first appeared in Incredible Hulk Vol. 1 #163 (1973), and was created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Herb Trimpe.

Son of the late Soviet supervillian, Yuri Topolov aka the Gargoyle, Kondrati inherited his father’s defomed apperance and superhuman intelligence. Seeking vengence, Kondrati builds a high-tech suit of armor and become a recurring enemy of the Incredible Hulk. Kondrati later appropriated the codename of “Titanium Man”, wearing a suit of armor originally built for Boris Bullsky, the original Titanium Man.
