- 1950: University of Glasgow students Ian Hamilton, Gavin Vernon, Kay Matheson, and Alan Stuart take the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey. In the process, it breaks into two pieces. The larger piece is taken south and buried near Rochester, Kent, England, while the smaller piece is whisked away to Birmingham.
