The Rock of Gibraltar was one of the aliases of the Stone of Destiny. ("Rock of Ages")

Real World Background

The Rock of Gibraltar stands at the southernmost tip of Spain, overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. In 711, the Moors landed here to conquer Spain, under the leadership of Tariq ibn Zayid, nicknamed "Tariq One-eye"; Gibraltar was named after him (its name is a whittled-down version of "Jabal al Tariq", Arabic for "the Rock of Tariq".

The British captured Gibraltar from Spain in 1704, during the War of the Spanish Succession, recognizing its strategic importance; it has remained a British colony since, despite periodic protests from Spain that Gibraltar be returned to it.
