Derek's glider was a glider Derek Maza bought thanks to the rather large paycheck he was pulling in as Xanatos's pilot and personal bodyguard.

Derek's skills as a pilot were one of the reasons Xanatos chose him to be the leader of his Mutates. ("Metamorphosis")
