The Battle of Camlann was a conflict in the year 542 that ended Arthur Pendragon's reign as King of Britain.
Camlann was the culmination of a civil war between two factions: that of Arthur on one hand, and of his bastard son Mordred on the other. By the end of the battle, almost all of the knights on both sides had died. Mordred was slain and Arthur was mortally wounded. After the battle, Arthur was taken away by the Lady of the Lake, Nimue, and Morgana le Fay to Avalon and laid to rest in the Hollow Hill. [1]
