The Sruighlea Cell sleeps

The Sruighlea Cell was a branch of Demona's Clan that was destroyed in 997.

History

It is unknown where these gargoyles and gargoyle beasts originally came from but it is thought that they were survivors of a nearby Scottish clan that had been destroyed. By 997, the gargoyles and beast who would make up the Sruighlea Cell were all members of Demona's Clan. In order to protect against another clan-wide massacre, Demona separated her gargoyles into small cells to spend the day in separate, isolated locations. The wisdom of this strategy became apparent one day in 997 when Constantine, Gillecomgain, Maíl Brigti and Brother Valmont discovered the Sruighlea Cell's cave. Constantine and Gillecomgain smashed the entire cell while they slept. Fortunately, the bulk of Demona's Clan survived in hiding elsewhere.

Demona later discovered the remains of her clanmates and reported the news to the Lunfanan Cell. She decided to take revenge on the humans instead of performing a Wind Ceremony and led her clan into the Battle of Rathveramoen. Brooklyn also found the cave a short time later as he searched for Demona.

It is unknown whether any gargoyle ever returned to the cave to perform a proper Wind Ceremony for the Sruighlea Cell.

Known Members

  • Seven Gargoyles (4 Males, 2 Females, 1 Gender Unknown)
  • One Beast (Gender Unknown)

Real World Background

"Sruighlea" is the Gaelic name for Stirling, a major historic town in Scotland. In 1297, William Wallace defeated the English in battle nearby; the Battle of Bannockburn took place in the same area in 1314, as well.
