The character shares the same last name as actor Daniel J. Travanti, who played Captain Frank Furillo on the series Hill Street Blues, one of the major influences for Gargoyles. Despite appearances in several episodes of the original series, Phil Travanti was not officially given a name until his appearance in the third issue of the SLG comic series. [1]
