The Lake is a 20-acre body of water located on the southern half of Central Park. Notable landmarks on and around the lake include Bow Bridge.
History
In December, 1995, the Guardian arrived from Avalon onboard the Skiff on The Lake. It was from here that Goliath, Elisa Maza, and Bronx departed with him to Avalon where they were subsequently joined by Angela for their World Tour. ("Avalon Part One")
At an unknown point, the Lady of the Lake made her home beneath The Lake when a recently awakened King Arthur Pendragon summoned her, seeking Excalibur. ("Pendragon")
Real World Background
The Lake was one of the first features to be built in Central Park. The Lake was formed from part of the Sawkill Creek, a natural creek which flowed near the American Museum of Natural History.
