Jean Valjean is a human from France, and the protagonist of Les Misérables. Greg Weisman has revealed that Valjean existed in the Gargoyles Universe, but aside from that, nothing else has been revealed.[1] However, Greg Weisman has confirmed that the basic events of Valjean's life in the novel happened in the Gargoyles Universe. In addition, other characters from the novel also existed. [2]

The Revolution of the Barricades and its failure, an important part of the novel Les Misérables, has been noted to be part of Gargoyles Universe history. [3] [4]
