Gapstow Bridge

The Gapstow Bridge is a rustic stone bridge that spans the Pond on the southeast corner of Central Park.

History

In 1997, Bronx and Lance crossed the Gapstow Bridge as they searched for Emmy. ("Bronx")

Real World Background

The original Gapstow bridge was designed by Central Park designer Calvert Vaux and constructed in 1874, with wooden and cast-iron elements. That bridge eventually eroded and was later replaced with the current stone design by Howard & Caudwell in 1896. [1]
