Dragon Man was created by Jack Kirby.
The first Dragon Man was an android created by Professor Gregson Gilbert of Empire State University as part of an experimental attempt to create artificial life. Gilbert struggled to animate the creature until the alchemist Diablo intervened, using his supernatural powers to bring the android to life under his partial control. However, Dragon Man soon broke free of Diablo’s influence and turned on his creator. Although slow-minded and incapable of speech, Dragon Man could understand commands and proved to be a formidable opponent of the Fantastic Four. Despite his violent tendencies, he often showed a gentle, almost King Kong-like affection toward Sue Richards. Dragon Man was not inherently malicious, but he was easily manipulated and provoked into combat. Later, Dragon Man was upgraded by Valeria Richards and became a member of Reed Richards’ Future Foundation.
