The Temple of Ishimura is the home of the Ishimura Clan of gargoyles in Japan.
History
The temple features murals depicting gargoyles and humans fighting together since at least the Feudal era. When the clan rests for the day, it is customary for the gargoyles to face the interior of the temple, compared to the gargoyles Stone Sleep habits traditionally seen from Europe.
In 1996, a replica of the temple was constructed for Taro's Gargoyle Theme Park, which duplicated the original's features down to the last rock. It remains unclear if Taro abducted the clan's eggs in the rookery when he abducted the Ishimura Clan. ("Bushido") [1]
