Calvin Fletcher
Calvin Fletcher was a tenant of 601 Amsterdam Avenue. [1]

History
Mr. Fletcher was a semi-retired trumpet player, known to always greet his neighbors with a smile and a joke.
He lived in the tiny studio 4C, considered to be more of a closet than an apartment. The building was neglected as a whole, and condition in the apartment was poor, beyond its size. With the gas behind in inspections, faulty wiring, and trash piling up, 4C suffered an explosion, with Mr. Fletcher inside. He was rescued from the subsequent fire, but later died from the injuries he sustained. His neighbors later attended his funeral.
Although his death was ultimately ruled an accident, the tenants all blamed the landlord, Clarence Huxley. Unbeknownst to them, the landlord also considered himself responsible and, nine months later, began to do what he could to make the everyday lives of the surviving tenants of 601 Amsterdam Avenue better.
