Talk:Avalon Clan
If we're counting Elisa as part of the Manhattan Clan and the mutates as members of the Labyrinth Clan, shouldn't Tom, Katherine, and the Magus be listed as members of the Avalon Clan? The gargoyles of the clan certainly look on them as part of their family. -- Demonskrye 13:47, 24 August 2009 (CDT)
- I agree with you, Demonskrye. Especially since Tom, Katherine, and Magus did their best to raise the gargoyles according to the little they knew of the Gargoyle Way. I think the Eggs see them as part of the clan. Litwolf 24 August 2009

Aquatic gargoyle
Just a thought that occurred to me rather than a suggestion: does anyone else think that the rather aquatic looking gargoyle in the foreground of the bottom left picture in the collage might be descended from a former member of the Loch Ness clan? -- Demonskrye 09:10, 3 June 2008 (CDT)
- I have thought of that before. Hard to say for sure, but it is a possibility. He doesn't have the manta-like wings and dolphin-esque lower body prevalent among the Loch Ness Clan, but I'm sure some of his more "normal" characterisitics could've come from his Wyvern Clan parent. Maybe we'd learn more in Dark Ages like possibly a LN Clan member joined the Wyvern Clan and produced this guy with a Wyvern Clan garg or something. -- Matt 17:16, 3 June 2008 (CDT)
- There's no definite proof of it yet, but I've got the feeling that gargoyles sometimes left their clan of origin to join another clan back when there were enough clans in a given region to make that possible. I imagine it wouldn't have been all that common, as most gargoyles would probably have ties with members of their clan of birth. But since we know that clans will sometimes split into two if there are are too many gargoyles for one area to sustain, it's not unthinkable that an occasional couple or a gargoyle who did not find a mate in his or her clan might leave to join another clan. Or if a clan in the area suffered a particularly catastrophic loss of members, other clans that are flourishing might send members or eggs to help the wounded clan recover. Part of my reason for thinking this is that there are only a few ways I can think of that Griff could recognize Goliath as being "Scottish stock." They could have met Demona, they might have met the Loch Ness Clan (though it doesn't sound like the Loch Ness Clan looks very much like the Wyvern Clan did), they might even have met a member of the Avalon Clan on a journey we don't know about. But the theory I'm particularly attached to is that there is a Socttish bloodline in the London Clan. We've only seen seven members of the clan so far, but it is worth nothing that only Coco has membrane wings rather than feathered ones. It could be just genetic diversity, but it is possible that Coco's ancestors were Scottish, though how a clan which would have welcomed these Scottish newcomers centuries ago and raised their children communally would still recognize this trait as particularly Scottish I don't know.
- Do we know if the Loch Ness Clan is amphibious or strictly aquatic? If it's the latter, I'll cheerfully withdraw my theory.
- And if anyone's wondering, I certainly don't think any of this should go into the wiki, as it's just speculation and theorizing on my part. -- Demonskrye 08:18, 4 June 2008 (CDT)
- This should certainly stay off the Wiki pages as it is all but fanfiction. In any case, I agree very much with what you've said. I think Greg mentioned that there is a lot of gargoyle information in the London Clan's library, so perhaps Griff knew about the regional differences through the library's knowledge and nothing more or less. I also think Coco is descended from Scottish stock, though most of her blood comes from the London Clan. Greg has said there is a good reason that coco's design is such as it is, so it was a concious decision on his part, meaning there is a story behind it. Anyway, I guess we'll have to wait and see. -- Matt 08:45, 4 June 2008 (CDT)
