The Enchanted Suits of Armor were left inside Avalon's Hollow Hill to protect it.
History
When Elisa Maza and the Magus sought out the help from the Sleeping King, the enchanted suits of armor were the first line of defense. As the two humans approached the bridge spanning the Hollow Hill's chasm, the suits of armor began to walk toward them, their swords ready to strike. Elisa managed to shoot one of the helmets off with her pistol, but it had little impact. The Magus eventually tapped into Avalon's magic, commanding them to collapse, dormant. Later during his battle with the Weird Sisters, the Magus tapped into Avalon's mystical energies once more, transforming the suits of armor into chains to bind his adversaries. ("Avalon" Part Three)
The iron chains were later melted down to help forge the Iron Bell to defeat Oberon. ("Ill Met By Moonlight")
Characteristics
Curiously, the suits of armor were made of iron. How they came to be enchanted remains one of the biggest mysteries on Avalon: Iron is immune to Third Race magic, nor could they have been the result of mortal magic, which is forbidden on Avalon. [1][2]
