Amp is the nickname of Staghart, a gargoyle of the London clan. When introduced to Hudson and Lexington, Staghart tells them that his friends call him "Amp". Even though his rookery sister Constance points out that no one actually calls him that, Lex offers to use the nickname.

In the original Gargoyles comedy development, Amp was the name given to Brooklyn's character, though he looked more like Lexington at the time.
