The stone by night spell was a curse Demona cast on television in Manhattan to turn its residents to stone at night.

History
Deceiving Xanatos about the spell's true nature, Demona was able to use PackMedia Studios to broadcast her spell. Almost everyone in Manhattan saw it. The spell was cast on November 9th and it ended November 12th, 1995. The only way the spell would end is if the sky burned. Using the his Steel Clan robots and with help from the Manhattan Clan, Xanatos devised and executed a solution to break the spell by using jet packs to disperse gas, that when ignited made the sky appear to be on fire.
Those who were known not to be affected by the curse were:
- David Xanatos: Did not watch the broadcast.
- Macbeth: Watched the broadcast with the sound off and thus was not affected since magic has to be seen and heard for it to be effective.
- Jeffrey Robbins: Is blind, therefore was immune.
- Manhattan Clan: Turned off the sound the moment they saw Demona on TV.
- Diamond Exchange Saleswoman: By her own admission, does not watch television.
