History
Demona acquired the weapon sometime in the 11th Century. In 1093, the rookling Angelika asked why a gargoyle would ever have use for a human weapon. Demona, in turn, credited the Gargoyle of the Sword for demonstrating its usefulness at the Battle of Rathveramoen ninety-six years earlier. ("Fools Rush In...", "Tyrants", "Phoenix")
She later used the sword to unceremoniously kill the Hunter – this time the Scottish King, Malcolm Canmore. Despite his son, Donald Canmore, knowing the gargoyle was guilty, the King's wounds were ambiguous enough that Northumbrian Arkil Morel quickly claimed credit for the regicide at the Battle of Alnwick.
