The Gold Locket in 1997.

The Gold Locket was a Norse artifact.

History

In the 12th Century, during their voyage with Sigurd Magnusson, Angelika picked up the gold locket from one of any of the ports or ships they plundered. From then on, she wore it throughout her travels with Demona. By 1274 in Ishimura, Angelika had a rookling (later known as Katana) steal a clip of Demona's hair to braid with a clip of her own blond hair that was once cherished by her mate, Magni. Angelika gave the locket and braided hairs to her mother, but her death shortly after proved too much for Demona, who subsequently buried and abandoned it with the rest of their joint plunder before departing Japan. ("Fortune Favors the Brave...", "Forever Sound the Mystic Chords of Memory...")

The locket and the rest of the cache was later discovered put on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan for its Vikings in Japan exhibit, next to Odin's Shield. Demona successfully stole the locket, while tricking the Manhattan Clan into believing she was after the shield. Demona returned to her townhouse with the locket, tearfully satisfied to have reacquired this reminder of someone whom she once loved. ("A Prize Beyond Compare...")

Characteristics

The prize within.

A simple locket of gold, it was otherwise considered unremarkable compared to the other items in the exhibit. For Demona, however, it was priceless because inside the locket were two locks of hair intertwined, belonging to her and Angelika.
