Lorcana

Lorcana is a Disney themed Collectible Trading Card Game created by Ravensburger, who also made the Disney's Gargoyles Awakening Board Game. It is Ravensburger's first Trading Card Game and features characters from Disney Animation Studios and The Disney Afternoon Series. It was announced in 2022 and released August 18th, 2023.

The game's premise is that the Players, known as Illumineers, have been summoned to the mystical realm of Lorcana, which is crumbling and dying. Illumineers use the power of their imagination and magical ink to summon replicas of Disney characters to help them collect enchanted Story Lore gemstones to help them rebuild and restore Lorcana. The game is notable for using obscure characters and deep cut references.

In May 2025 it was announced that Gargoyles characters would be included in the ninth expansion, Whispers in the Well. In late July 2025, an image of Demona on a card pack was revealed at GenCon. In October 11th 2025, Demona was revealed as the first Legendary card of the set. On October 14th, during Lorcana’s weekly Lorecast, more characters were revealed. [1] The expansion was officially released November 7th, 2025.

Whispers in the Well as a set theme involves detectives, making Gargoyles a natural addition to the roster at this specific juncture. Other Detective characters in the set include Basil from The Great Mouse Detective, an original concept "Daisy Duck: Paranormal Investigator", and Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Zootopia 2.
