Mercury Building

The Mercury Building is a large building located in Greenwich Village.

History

On Halloween night in 1995, Goliath pursued Fox (transformed into a werefox after donning the Eye of Odin) to the roof of the Mercury Building, with Xanatos and Elisa following quickly behind them. It was here that Xanatos attempted to reach his fiancé, but the sight of Elisa consumed the werefox with self-loathing and, as a result, she lunged toward the detective. Goliath, however, managed to tackle the werefox away from Elisa, and threw the beast into the building's electric sign, shocking her. While Goliath kept Fox pinned to the sign, he instructed Xanatos to grab the Eye of Odin. The literal power struggle resulted not only in Xanatos successfully separating the magical talisman from Fox, but in the sign exploding from the voltage. In the end, Fox was able to (painfully) transform back into a human and Owen Burnett arrived soon after, landing on the roof in a helicopter, to take them home. ("Eye of the Beholder")

Production Background

The sign exploding behind Fox was a deliberate reference to the 1986 movie, Highlander. [1]
