Feast of the Panther Queen

The Feast of the Panther Queen is an event held in a village in Nigeria in honor of the Panther Queen.

History

In 1996, after studying and preparing for months, Diane Maza attended the festival and relayed the children of the village with the Tale of the Panther Queen as Fara Maku's guest. It was here that Diane reconnected with her daughter, Elisa Maza, and met Goliath, Angela, and Bronx during the Avalon World Tour.

The Feast was interrupted by Tea Gora and the poachers she recruited to kill every panther they could find. Fara Maku revealed himself as a werepanther during this incident and was chased into the jungle by Tea. The travelers and Diane pursued - and during their pursuit, they learned that Tea was also a werepanther and that Fara Maku had made a bargain with Anansi. ("Mark of the Panther")

Characteristics

The Feast consists of a Ceremonial Panther being captured by the villagers. The villagers then gather around a campfire where the tale of the Panther Queen is told, sometimes by a visiting storyteller. Afterwards, a great feast takes place and then the festivities are concluded with the release of the Ceremonial panther back into the wild.
