(Throughout the story, each double page spread has numbers listed at the bottom right corner that correspond to one of the eight the stamps that come with the kit.)

The story begins with David Xanatos and Owen Burnett working in a secret lab underneath Central Park. They are creating new Steel Clan robot that they hope will defeat the real thing, Goliath. Stamps 1, 3, and 4 are suggested.

Demona is also part of this scheme, and does her part in luring Goliath by personally telephoning Elisa Maza. "Meet me at the zoo," Demona said. "I can help you put Xanatos away forever." Stamps 5 and 8 are suggested.

Elisa evidently falls for the trap, because before she can put two and two togerher, Demona swoops in and throws the detective into a lion's cage. With that, the trap has been set for Goliath. Stamps 5 and 8 are suggested.

By this point, Goliath has noticed that Elisa is missing, and perched on a nondescript skyscraper, is on the lookout for her. As he glides off to find her, Lexington and Brooklyn tag along. Stamps 2, 6, and 7 are suggested.

Arriving at the zoo, Goliath immediately goes to distract the lions, while Lexington and Brooklyn do what they can to break the lock on the cage. But before they can escape, Xanatos arrives with his latest Steel Clan robot. Stamps 2, 5, 6, and 7 are suggested.

The Steel Clan robot attacks Goliath, but the leader of the Manhattan Clan holds his own. As a result, the Steel Clan flies to the top of a nearby tree. Stamps 2 and 3 are suggested.

Goliath is undeterrred, and quickly scales a wall so that he can glide toward the Steel Clan robot. Growing impatient, Xanatos orders the robot to destroy the gargoyle. Stamps 1, 2, 3, and 4 are suggested.

Actual and articifical gargoyle collide midair, and the Steel Clan robot explodes! Having stuck around to gloat in her victory, Demona is disappointed by this sudden but inevitable defeat. Stamps 2, 4, and 8 are suggested.

While Goliath made short work of the Steel Clan robot, Broadway and Lexington managed to capture Xanatos and throw him into the lion's cage. Elisa takes the opportunity to radio for back-up. Stamps 1, 5, 6, and 7 are suggested.

The detective turns to thank her gargoyle friends, but Goliath, Brooklyn, and Lexington are already gone. But she quickly realizes that dawn is approaching, and knows that they will need to sleep soon. Stamps 2, 5, and 6 are suggested.

Following the story, tips and techniques cover the last pages. They include how to create a visual to make the picture move (stamping the same character multiple times with an overlap), using different color ink pads than the one that came with the kit, and to utilize a rubber eraser to help reverse an image. The pages also suggest adding captions to stamps, encouraging readers to use the stamps to send messages to friends and to "jazz up" envelopes and postcards with borders made with the stamps.
