Queens is one of the five boroughs of New York City, the other four being Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. Situated on the western end of Long Island, it lies north of Brooklyn and bordered by the East River separating the borough from Manhattan and the Bronx.

Notable landmarks include LaGuardia Airport and Citi Field, home of the New York Mets (a team Elisa Maza considers herself a fan of). [1][2]

Real World Background

While the western end of Long Island (and the surrounding tri-state area) was long inhabited by the Lenape, the first Europeans settled in the area that would one day be known as the borough of Queens in 1635. After an 1894 referendum, the area's various cities and townships (including, but not limited to Flushing, Jamaica, Long Island City, and Newtown) were consolidated into New York City by the New York state legislature in 1897.

Queens was the site of the 1939 World's Fair (and later, the 1964 New York World's Fair).

Production Background

An early draft of "Awakening: Part Three" had Elisa Maza mutter under her breath, "Good thing we weren't facing Queens" after Hudson took his name from the Hudson River. Standard & Practices, however, objected to the line, so the line was revised, changing 'Queens' to 'East', but ultimately, the joke didn't land and was eventually cut out altogether. [3]
