Talk:Series Bible

I suppose this is cool information to have on each page, but I have some concerns. First, I think each page needs a disclaimer or some explanation on this section explaining what it is and where it came from. As it is, it seems awfully repetitive of the History Sections and pointless. Worse than that, on some pages, like Beth Maza, the series bible entry looks ludicrously dated RIGHT UNDER the History Section. Maybe this section should go near Production Background or something. Secondly, while the vast majority of information in these blurbs is canonical, there is some stuff I would definitly call canon-in-training and I think it needs to be marked as such. Finally, I don't want to piss of Greg B or anything, but I really think when a major change is made to dozens of high profile pages, it really should be mentioned first and discussed. I'm not saying I don't like the Series Bible stuff (in fact, I find a lot of info in it cool and interesting), nor am I saying it should be removed until we've talked about it, I just feel that something this major should've been made known to the staff here before implementation, we could've avoided these concerns before they became problems. -- Matt 19:28, 1 January 2008 (CST)

You're not pissing me off. Hmm, yeah, should have discussed this. I'm sure we make this work. -- Greg B
If we've done our jobs right at the wiki thus far, everything in the Series Bible should really be duplicate information. In situtations where it isn't, I would prefer to incorporate the info into History or Characteristics sections.
That said, I do like the idea of having Series Bible information on the wiki. Assuming we're allowed to use it, perhaps we could have a page for the entire Bible (e.g. at Series Bible) and link to it at the bottom of each appropriate page. So, on the Goliath page we'd have
==See also==
*{{wikipedia2|Goliath_(Gargoyes)|Goliath (Gargoyles)}}
*'''[[Series Bible#Goliath|Goliath]]''' in the [[Series Bible]]
Or something like that. It's just a little less obtrusive that way. And if we had it all in one place, we could easily clarfiy that it was the season 1 bible or whatever.
Or is there a definite preference to have the information on each character page? -- Supermorff 09:18, 2 January 2008 (CST)
Frankly, I prefer not to have it on the pages at all. It is too repetitive. If it remains on the pages, I feel it should be encorporated or put below the Production Background sections and a note should be written to explain what it is, who wrote it and when it was written. I do want to keep in on the Wiki itself and I tend to think putting it on a Series Bible page would be best with links inserted into each of the character pages, probably in the Production Background sections. -- Matt 11:57, 2 January 2008 (CST)

New Page

I'm definitly cool with the decision to take the Series Bible sections off the pages for reasons I stated above, HOWEVER, I never wanted to imply that I didn't think that was cool information to have. And before we forget about this whole thing I want to say that I would LOVE a page dedicated to the Series Bible telling what it is, where it came from, who wrote it, when it was written, etc. and then put all this information on that page, with links to the characters themselves of course. Just my two cents. -- Matt 17:56, 6 January 2008 (CST)

I agree. That makes four cents total. -- Supermorff 07:34, 7 January 2008 (CST)
