Guardian (true name: Nicholas Natsilane Maza) is a descendant of the Maza family in 2198 and also of Natsilane. He was one of the protagonists for the proposed spin-off Gargoyles 2198. [1]
History
Born in 2181, Nicholas (Nick for short) was raised among gargoyles and identifies with them closely, having even undergone bushido training in Ishimura. [2] He believes in their ideal of protection, and, in fact, comes as close as any human can to being a gargoyle without actually becoming one physically. Nick was on guard duty on Queen Florence Island alongside Samson, Delilah, and Zafiro when the Space-Spawn invaded Earth. [3] He joins Samson's resistance cell in 2198, and will eventually become part of Nokkar's team in outer space.
Nick is eager and well-trained but untested. He looks forward to a chance to prove that he can hold his own in combat alongside gargoyles. He will need to learn to accept himself for the human that he is. [4]
Greg Weisman confirmed at the 2004 Gathering that Nick is descended from the adopted child of Goliath and Elisa Maza.
