The New York Giants are a national American football team.

History

In 1994, Elisa Maza suggested catching a Giants game with Goliath – much to the confusion of the recently-awakened gargoyle. ("Awakening: Part Five")

Real World Background

The New York Giants were first established in 1925, as part of (what was then) a twenty team league. It is currently one of thirty-two teams in the National Football League. New York City previously had a baseball team with the same name, which moved to San Francisco in 1957. Even after the baseball team's relocation, the football team continues to officially operate as the New York Football Giants. The Giants have made playoffs thirty-three times and have won four Super Bowl championships: 1986, 1990, 2007, and 2011.

The New York Giants originally played in Manhattan and later in the Bronx (at Yankee Stadium), before brief tenures in New Haven, Connecticut and Queens. From 1976 to 2009, the team played out of Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The team moved to their current field next door at MetLife Stadium in 2010. They share the same venue as the New York Jets.
