Edgar was the son of Malcolm Canmore, and Margaret. He is the half-brother of Paul and Erlend Thorfinnson, Donnchad, and Donald Canmore and the brother of Edward, Edmund, Edelred, Alexandair, Edith, Mary, and Dauid.
History
In 1093, Edgar accompanied his father, uncle, and brothers to Northumbria. Together, they participated in the sacking of Alnwick and Edgar joined his father and brothers in the massacre of the Northumbria Clan.
After Malcolm III and Edward's death, a civil war broke out between Donalbain and Doncchad, who both claimed the crown. Edgar, considering himself the true King of Scotland, fled to England with Alexandair and Dauid. ("Fools Rush In...")

Real World Background
