History
In January 1995, Derek Maza starts working for David Xanatos as his pilot. [1] Midflight, Jackal and Hyena attack them from their own helicopter, but the Trio intervene. Lexington manages to land Jackal's helicopter and hide it. The following night, Lexington begins to repair Jackal's helicopter, which is used by the Manhattan Clan to travel to upstate New York and thwart Jackal and Hyena's follow-up attack at Xanadu, Xanatos's retreat.
Following the confrontation, Jackal and Hyena are arrested on charges of attempted murder and the Manhattan Clan hide the helicopter, permanently. ("Her Brother's Keeper") [2]
Greg Weisman has suggested that they may have turned it into a planter. [3]
Production Background
The helicopter was a source of embarrassment for the production team. Kenner wanted to market a helicopter toy for the gargoyles, in spite of the difficulty of justifying its presence in a show where most of the main characters can glide. So, Greg Weisman put the helicopter in, and then Kenner decided not to make a toy out of it. A toy called the Night Striker was quite similar, however. [4][5]
