Edelred was the son of Malcolm Canmore, and Margaret. He is the half-brother of Paul and Erlend Thorfinnson, Donnchad, and Donald Canmore and the brother of Edward, Edmund, Edgar, Alexandair, Edith, Mary, and Dauid.
History
In 1093, Edelred accompanied his father, uncle, and brothers to Northumbria. He considered the sacking of Alnwick to be an "offense against heaven" but, nevertheless, later joined his father and brothers, in the massacre of the sleeping Northumbria Clan.
After the death of Malcolm, the king, and Edward, the crown prince, Edelered took holy orders becoming lay abbot of Dunkeld. [1]
