Edward (Prince)
Edward was the son of Malcolm Canmore, and Margaret, and crown prince of Scotland. He is the half-brother of Paul and Erlend Thorfinnson, Donnchad, and Donald Canmore and the brother of Edmund, Edelred, Edgar, Alexandair, Edith, Mary, and Dauid.
History
In 1093, when his father announced his attention to bring his sons with him to Northumbria, his mother objected to her children accompanying him, insisting they were too young. Edward countered that he and his brothers were men, ready to be tested on the battlefield.
On November 13th that year, Malcolm's forces soon sacked the village or Alnwick, which Edward and his brothers surveyed from afar, considering the devastation a triumph. Edward later that day joined his father and brothers in the massacre of the sleeping Northumbria Clan. That evening, they found themselves surrounded by Robert de Mowbray's forces, and as arrows began to rain down on them, Edward pushed the king out of the way, saving his father's life but losing his own.
Edward ultimately died in vain as Malcolm was killed later that evening. The combined casualties drove his mother Margaret to her own death and, without a king and heir, Scotland was plunged into a succession crisis, with both Edward's uncle Donalbain and his half-brother Donnchad (and later still his brother, Edgar) also fighting for the crown.
