Magnus Olafsson was King of Norway and the father of Sigurd Magnusson.
History
In 1098, King Magnus and his son, Sigurd, overthrew Paul and Erlend Thorfinnson as Earls of Orkney, sending them to Norway as prisoners. He then bestowed the title onto his son. ("Fortune Favors the Brave...")

Real World Background
Also known as Magnus Barefoot, Magnus was born in 1073 and became King of Norway in 1093 to Olaf Haraldsson and Tora Torbergsdatter. He supported Donalbain's claim for the Scottish throne, helping to seize control of Edinburgh. Magnus would rule until his death in 1103.
