Alesand
Alesand was the Captain of the Guard's daughter who lived in the 10th Century. By 971 AD, she was more (but not much more) than five summers old. She lived in the village of Wyvern, located down the Reach near Wyvern Hill, Scotland with her grandmother. ("The Reach")
History
When Prince Malcolm and the Wyvern Clan's Rhydderch formed their alliance and began building Castle Wyvern, Alesand explored the rookery and was one of the few human children to befriend some of the young gargoyles. Although her new friends did not use them much amongst one another, Alesand named the rooklings Caesar, Alexander, Charlemagne, and Antiope. ("The Promise")
After the gargoyles promised to take Alesand out gliding one night, the five came upon a nearby cave, and went exploring. They soon came upon the Megalith Dance, which Antiope identified as a "Ghost-Cage" and urged Alesand and the others to leave the area. Deeper in the caverns, they discovered a trove of treasure and the giant sleeping dragon hoarding it. Antiope quickly hid Alesand before their presence awoke the dragon. While the dragon Wyvern saw the rooklings as his little cousins, he soon grew disturbed learning that "his clan" had made an alliance with the local humans. Smelling the human nearby, Wyvern charged toward Alesand, but was distracted by the Trio with another revelation – a castle was being built. Forgetting the human girl, Wyvern flew towards fortress and the five friends did their best to race back to warn their respective adults. By the time they arrived, Wyvern had flown off once more, and the Captain of the Guard was grateful to see his daughter safe and making new friends. ("The Dream", "The Pledge")
Some time later, Alesand wrote down "The Tale of the Three Brothers", as it was first shared to her and the other Wyvern locals by Shahrizad, a player in a traveling acting troupe. In her writings, she quickly identified her father's role in the tale and was frustrated each night that Shahrizad delayed the ending. Characteristics
Like her father, Alesand has grown up familiar with the Wyvern Clan and their customs. Even at a young age, she and her father attended a Wind Ceremony for the clan's fallen warriors. ("The Oath")
She was taught to read and write by Alexander. ("The Reach", "The Promise")
