Flagstaff is a town in Arizona. Beth Maza attends the university here.
History
Peter Maza's ancestors (who may have been members of the Hopi) lived in or around Flagstaff. Some time ago, they built the Coyote Carving to honor Coyote, one of their Kachinam. Peter's father, Carlos Maza, is buried near the town.
When Beth Maza chose to become an anthropologist (like her mother, Diane Maza), she chose to focus on her father's Native American roots and enrolled at Flagstaff University, majoring in Native American Studies. [1]
Goliath, Elisa, Angela, and Bronx arrived in the swimming pool of the Flagstaff University on June 16, 1996 during the end of the Avalon World Tour, and stopped Xanatos and Coyote 4.0 from capturing Coyote the Trickster, with some help from Peter and Beth Maza. ("Cloud Fathers")
Production Background
In choosing the southwest location for Beth Maza's university, Greg Weisman wrote how he was probably inspired by Tony Hillerman's mystery novels, which are often set in Arizona.[2]
