The Castle Tower is the tallest point of Castle Wyvern, and the perch of the clan leader. When the Castle was rebuilt atop the Eyrie Building, it became the highest point in all of New York City.
History
The tower was constructed with the Castle, beginning in 971. By the time it was completed, it was the highest point in all of Wyvern. Presumably, Mentor would sleep at the top of the tower. By 984, when Mentor stepped down and Goliath was promoted to leader of the Wyvern Clan, he began sleeping atop the tower.
When Hakon and his band of Vikings attacked Castle Wyvern in 994, the Viking leader scaled the tower assuming the sleeping gargoyle was just a statue. But when the Sun set, Hakon came face-to-face with the gargoyle leader. The following evening, unbeknownst to Goliath, he had his final conversation with Angel and "Othello" before he and Mentor took off after the Vikings.
