Welcome to the GargWiki Community Portal! Here we provide a simple introduction to the GargWiki community and a few useful tools to help editors navigate the site.

Before you begin

New users are always welcome at GargWiki, however due to past instances of vandalism and spam against the wiki it has been locked to prevent users from adding or editing content without permission. If you wish to contribute to GargWiki, first create your username, then leave a comment containing your username at the Ask Greg Comment Room, asking to be allowed to edit the site. One of our bureaucrats will be happy to give you editing priveleges. Thank you for your patience.

If you are new to GargWiki, or wiki editing in general, you are encouraged to browse some or all of the following pages:

  • GargWiki:About - This page contains a brief description of GargWiki, an explanation of how articles are organized, and a short history of the site.
  • GargWiki:Copyrights - At GargWiki we do not accept copyrighted work of any kind without the copyright holder's explicit consent.
  • GargWiki:Policy - Here you can find a few behavioural guidelines that users are expected to follow while using this site.

Ongoing discussions

GargWiki talk:Community Portal, this page's associated talk page, is for discussions and suggestions relating to the whole of GargWiki. If you would like to get more involved in the running of GargWiki, or if you have an idea to improve the site, you can add it there. Please remember to respect your fellow editors.

As well as this, here is a list of other ongoing discussions elsewhere on the site:

Tasks

In this section, editors can list GargWiki pages according to the work that needs to be done on them. Editors can request pages anonymously or sign their comments by adding three tildes at the end: ~~~

Editors are also encouraged to give a brief explanation as to why they have listed the page, and ideas for improvement.

Requested pages

Special:Wantedpages contains an automatically-generated list of non-existent pages with the most incoming links, but users can also request pages to be created by listing them here.

  • Puck's Flute -- An item page, probably a stub for now, but it did appear in a couple of episodes.
  • Gargoyle Way -- We hear this phrase a lot to mean a lot of different things. Maybe someday we can cook up a page talking about the gargoyle code (parenting, banishing, leader/second, all that) Mabe it could help split up the gargoyles page more, as I did when I made clan. -- Matt 16:44, 1 January 2008 (CST)
I would rather have a series of interconnected pages, like Gargoyle, Gargoyle culture (which would link out to, e.g. Clan and Wind Ceremony), Gargoyle biology (which would link out to, e.g. Egg), and maybe even Gargoyle history or similar. We can keep some information (mostly canon) in the main article and then direct people wherever they want to go. Gargoyle Way can redirect to Gargoyle culture. We might even be able to merge some info back into more general articles from clan and egg and whatever else. To keep in line with the archives at Ask Greg, gargoyle culture could also be called gargoyle customs. ... Huh. That seems kinda complicated when I write it all out. -- Supermorff 17:21, 14 January 2008 (CST)
  • Hovercraft -- Talk about hovercrafts and airships. Just a thought. -- Matt 11:48, 10 January 2008 (CST)
Specifically Brod's hovercraft from "Golem" and "Turf". -- Supermorff
Yeah, but we also had the Cyberbiotics' airships, the Hunter's airship and sky sleds and maybe others I can't think of. -- Matt 17:59, 14 January 2008 (CST)
We might as well have separate articles for each: Brod's hovercraft, the Hunters' airship, and the sky sleds, etc. -- Supermorff 07:17, 2 June 2008 (CDT)
  • Street Thugs -- Since we have pages for most of the other recurring characters, I figured they needed their own page as well. Maybe have a subsection for London Street Thugs. -- Matt 17:15, 23 January 2008 (CST)
They appeared in Awakening... uh... 3, Avalon 1 and Hunter's Moon 1. The voice actors who played them switched roles between their first and second appearances (Keith David went from playing the bald white guy to the black guy in a leather jacket). They acquired a gun before their third appearance. That's all I got on them. -- Supermorff 15:10, 1 February 2008 (CST)
  • Construction Worker -- Another recurring character without a page. Where there any others we have not done yet? -- Matt 17:15, 23 January 2008 (CST)
From Vendettas and Hunter's Moon 1. Any other appearances? -- Supermorff 15:10, 1 February 2008 (CST)
  • Fairlane -- How about a page for Elisa's car? We see it so much in the the show. It could go in the Vehicles Category PGFish 20:25, 9 April 2008 (CDT)
Since it wasn't identified as a Fairlane, I'd suggest just calling it Elisa's Car or something and mentioning that someone based it off the Fairlane in the Production Background or whatever. Just my two cents. -- Matt 21:22, 7 May 2008 (CDT)
I think this should specifically be Bad Guys Leica Reel with Leica Reel redirecting to it. -- Demonskrye 06:15, 10 July 2008 (CDT)
You mean the bit at the end of an episode where Xanatos reveals that he was behind everything that happened (assuming that wasn't already obvious) and points out how even though the gargoyles foiled his plan or apparent plan, it's all good because he learned something that will make him more awesome? Does that really need its own entry or can we just cover it in the David Xanatos article? -- Demonskrye 06:15, 10 July 2008 (CDT)
Yeah, one of them things. The problem with putting it in the Xanatos article itself is that Xanatos is an in-universe canon character, whereas the Xanatos tag is an out-of-universe production... thing. Besides, Thailog sometimes has his own "Xanatos tags" as well. -- Supermorff 06:45, 10 July 2008 (CDT)
I think a "Behind the Scenes" section would cover it. And we could put an additional link to Xanatos in Thailog's Behind the Scenes section when talking about his penchant for similar speeches. -- Demonskrye 07:28, 10 July 2008 (CDT)
I don't doubt that a Behind the Scenes section could cover it, but why should it have to? By the way, has everyone seen this? -- Supermorff 12:02, 10 July 2008 (CDT)
  • Gargoyles (trading cards) - So according to an advertisement in one of my old comics I just recently happened across, there was a line of Gargoyles trading cards produced by a company called SkyBox. The ad predates the series' premiere, and indeed informs potential viewers that the series will premiere in syndication that coming fall, the card series was set to debut April 1995, the whole page is really quite nostalgic in a way (especially given that I wasn't really aware of the show at the time), and all in all, something tells me we really ought to have a page about this. - Caswin 21:34, 18 July 2008 (CDT)
Oh, yeah, that would be cool. There were two sets of trading cards-I have both. It might be interesting to have a page on the cards-maybe what is written on the cards themselves. Also, what about some of the books? Maybe we could list some stories from old Gargoyles books in the apocrypha section--PGFish 01:59, 19 July 2008 (CDT)

Pages in need of expansion

Special:Shortpages contains an automatically-generated list of pages with the least information, but users can also list pages to be expanded here.

Requested images

Here, users can list articles that they believe could be improved by the inclusion of appropriate images.

  • Avalon Clan -- Matt has requested a collage of higher quality pics of all members seen in canon.
  • Ishimura Clan -- Matt has requested a collage of higher quality pics of all members seen in canon.
  • Halloween - Demonskrye would like some pictures of various characters in their Halloween costumes.
From Eye of the Beholder or Gargoyles #4 and #5? Or both? D Taina 17:25, 9 May 2008 (CDT)
I'd personally like both eventually, but no rush. You can also feel free to grab pics of any other characters with interesting Halloween costumes (like Alex, Brendan, Morgan, maybe Thailog?, etc). -- Demonskrye 18:39, 9 May 2008 (CDT)
  • Gargoyle - Demonskrye would like a picture or pictures of some real stone gargoyles for the Real-World Background section. We can keep the one of the stone gargoyles from the show, but I don't think the "life-sized" free-standing statues we see frequently in the series are really good representations of what most real-world gargoyles look like. Plus, despite the caption, these particular gargoyle statues do not exist in the real world.
  • Tom - Supermorff would like a better picture of old/Guardian armor Tom, with his helmet completely off if possible.
The one that had the Coyote Diamond for a while, or the one that had the Sun Amulet? I get them mixed up. DTaina 00:17, 23 July 2008 (CDT)
Neither. I don't recall the Guggenheim being in "The Edge" at all, but in "Pendragon" it was the building from which Macbeth summoned Arthur, I believe. -- Matt 05:10, 23 July 2008 (CDT)
Yeah, the museum in "The Edge" was the Museum of Modern Art. -- Supermorff 05:39, 23 July 2008 (CDT)
