"Hunter's Moon" Part Two is the sixty-fourth televised episode of the series Gargoyles, and the fifty-first episode of Season 2. It originally aired on May 14, 1996.

Main Plot
Goliath's war with the Hunters continues in earnest after Angela nearly dies before sunrise, though she is saved by Elisa in time with CPR. When the gargoyles wake up the following night, they go out in pairs to search for the Hunters. Goliath goes to pick up Elisa, only to witness her kissing Jason Canmore from her window. More upset than ever, Goliath spots the Hunters' Airship, and enters with reckless abandon after convening with Brooklyn and Lexington. The three of them run into Demona, who is there to fight the Hunters herself, and all four gargoyles are captured and put in a holding cell by Jon and Robyn Canmore. Goliath and Demona form a truce, and the gargoyles escape after Goliath and Demona knock the two Hunters out, thinking they killed them. The three Hunters decide the best course of action would be to blow up the clocktower at night with a surgical strike, and do so after being led there by a tracer that Robyn had secretly planted on Goliath.
Subplots
Demona retrieves the Medici Tablet and is then chased by the Hunter Stuart Canmore during a 1495 flashback in Florence, Italy.
Elisa and Jason go to the warehouse where Demona stole the DI-7, and Elisa tells Jason vaguely about what happened to Angela, and they make a connection. Elisa confronts Owen at the site, who tells her that Xanatos had no part in Demona's or the Hunter's schemes.
Dominique Destine introduces Robyn to Sevarius at Nightstone Unlimited, who is there helping Demona construct the CV-1000 Carrier Virus for her plan to destroy all humans.
Elisa invites Jason to her apartment. Both are attracted to each other, and they kiss, but Elisa pulls back, torn about her feelings for Goliath. She tells Jason that there's someone else in her life but that they can't be together romantically, and Jason leaves.
Jon once again tries to convince Jason that the other gargoyles may not be in league with Demona, and that they were only after the Hunters because they hurt Angela. Jason berates him, however, and Jon ceases to argue.
Elisa walks into the station at the same time Robyn releases a bomb into the clocktower. Worried for her safety, Jason makes a grab for her upon his sky-sled.
The Story
Act One
Nighttime over Florence, Italy in the year 1495 A.D. A distant howl causes a bird to leave its roost and fly over the city. Standing atop a tower, Demona looks down at a nearby building. She uncloaks her wings, glides down, and crashes through a window. Looking around at the room, she snarls. She is alone. Demona bounds across the room toward a bookshelf. She begins tossing rows of books to the floor in her search for something. Annoyed at not finding it, she angrily growls. And then, behind some books, she spots what she has been seeking: The Medici Tablet! Picking it up she rejoices that she has found it after all the centuries. "Revenge is indeed a dish best served cold," she muses before taking her prize and exiting out of the window. Her quiet glide over the city is suddenly interrupted by a few small spears launched at her from above! Demona yells in surprise and manages to dodge the weapons. Still holding the Tablet, she tumbles downward but is able to regain control of her glide. A human piloting a hang-glider approaches her and attempts to knock her aside, but Demona is unharmed. "The Hunter!" she cries, identifying her assailant. "Aye, Demon," says the masked man, "It has taken me years to track you down, but it'll take only minutes to bring you down!" Demona laughs and tells him that he overestimates himself. The gargoyle dives down towards the city and the Hunter follows. As he pursues her, he readies another barrage of spears. Demona looks back and gasps in alarm. The Hunter fires and Demona only just manages to dodge again as the spears strike a nearby building. The chase continues around the city. Demona glides towards a river and the Hunter fires a third round of spears at her which splash into the water. Demona glides under a bridge and, realizing his craft is too large to follow, the Hunter veers upwards over the structure. Demona emerges from under the bridge and looks back pleased to have lost her foe. Then the Hunter suddenly dives in front of her and launches a net. Demona is ensnared and falls down into the river. The man lands his aircraft on the riverbank and is happy to have made his catch at last. He wades into the river to inspect his catch. "The hunt ends tonight!" Grabbing the net, he is shocked to find it empty. He yells in anger. Nearby, Demona emerges from the water unscathed and still holding the Medici Tablet. She climbs the masonry of a nearby bridge and the Hunter calls into the night. He tells "the Demon" this isn't over. His family has hunted her for five-hundred years. If he should fail, then his son will take up the hunt, and his son after that even if it takes another five-hundred years. "The hunt won't end until the last gargoyle dies!"
It is near dawn at the Clock Tower in Manhattan in 1996. Goliath holds Angela as the rest of the Manhattan Clan stands around their leader and his unconscious daughter. Goliath tells Angela to hold on a little longer. Dawn is approaching and the sun will heal her if she just fights a bit longer. Angela struggles to breath and then makes a raspy cough. She goes limp. Goliath, panicked, attempts to rouse her, but she is still. Elisa Maza comes up the stairs and sees the situation. She runs over to the gargoyles and demands that they give her room. Goliath lays Angela on the floor. Elisa begins performing CPR on the young gargoyle. The clan watches quietly as Elisa counts out chest compressions and administers mouth-to-mouth ventilation. Finally, Angela coughs and recovers enough to breath on her own. The gargoyles are amazed and overjoyed. Goliath tells Elisa that Angela is alive thanks to her actions. Elisa quips that CPR is the gift that keeps on giving before asking what happened to Angela. Goliath reports that they were attacked at the warehouse by three humans in black. Brooklyn adds that Demona hit the other location on the Upper West Side. Elisa notes that means Demona did survive the last encounter she had with the Clan. She looks to Goliath and asks if he knows who the humans were. Goliath stands and Broadway quickly moves to take his place at Angela's side. "They called themselves 'Hunters'," Goliath tells her, "But soon, they will be the prey. My prey." Sunlight creeps in through the giant clocks face and the Manhattan Clan turns to stone as Goliath clenches a fist in anger. Elisa quietly watches her sleeping friends.
Later, at the street-level entrance to the Clock Tower, a reporter and camera crew have assembled. Matt Bluestone exits the building and suddenly finds a bright light in his face and a microphone thrust in front of him. Jon Carter of WVRN introduces himself and asks for the detectives thoughts on all the gargoyle sightings lately. Bluestone feigns ignorance about gargoyles and the reporter points out that they have eye-witness reports of gargoyles breaking up the subway robbery two nights before. Bluestone tells the reporter that he doesn't believe in them. "Now UFOs..." he offers before explaining that Easter Island statues are based on "space aliens"! The reporter stammers out a response as Elisa and Jason Conover exit the building and observe the scene. Jason watches with a smile on his face, but Elisa drags him towards her car to make their way to investigate the crime scene. Jason asks her why she is in such a hurry. "Afraid that reporter was going to grill you about gargoyles?" Elisa laughs this off and says she just wants to get moving before the trail gets any colder. They both enter the car and Elisa speeds away through the city.
The car arrives at the Upper West Side facility, and Elisa parks. As she begins to get out, Jason stops her with a hand on her arm and softly asks for the real reason. Elisa sighs and admits that a very close friend was assaulted and nearly died. Jason is agitated and asks if they knew who did it. Elisa tells him no. Not yet. Elisa tells him "I feel so..." "Frustrated," Jason interrupts, "Helpless. Angry." Elisa agrees on all points. Moving closer to Elisa, Jason continues that she must really want to "nail the guy that hurt [her] friend." Elisa grimly agrees again. Jason tells her that he has been there. He's still there. He looks away wistfully. Elisa puts her hand on his and the two stare into each others eyes for a moment. Then Elisa pushes him away and asks him to check to point of entry with a laugh. "Right, chief," Jason says back with a smile.
Inside the facility, Owen Burnett examines the burned and destroyed interior. Elisa walks in, spots him, and asks if Burnett's boss is "cozy with Demona again." Owen says that, on the contrary, Mr. Xanatos has not had contact with Demona in a long time. Elisa tells him that Demona and "some hired muscle" tried to kill the gargoyles and nearly got Angela. She knows Xanatos is involved. Owen tells her that Xanatos has no animosity towards the gargoyles and, in fact, is grateful to Goliath for helping him to save his son, Alexander. Elisa doesn't believe any of this, but Owen tells her that what she believes is her own affair. He asks if he or Xanatos can be of any assistance and Elisa storms off saying that she's had enough "help" from Xanatos. Exiting the building, she comes across Jason kneeling near the door that Demona ripped off of the building the previous night. He calls Elisa over and she briefly recoils when she sees what he has found. He asks if she's ever seen anything like it and she lies to him and says she hasn't. Jason thinks they might be claw marks. "But what could be strong enough to leave claw marks ins solid steel?!"
Act Two
Dominique Destine and Robyn Correy walk through the genetics lab at the Nightstone Unlimited Building. Dominique stops to introduce Robyn to Dr. Anton Sevarius who is working at a station. Sevarius greets her and welcomes her to his "chamber of horrors". Dominique demands that the "tailored biological" he is working on must be ready by Hunter's Moon. Sevarius tells her that it is ready now. He pulls up an image on his console and shows them the molecular structure of a virus while explaining that his creation, CV-1000 has a wide range of vectors. It can infect via air, water, and mammalian paths. Robyn realizes what they are talking about. It is a virus that is highly contagious. Sevarius compliments her on her knowledge and surmises that she must've been first in her class. The doctor goes on to explain that the virus is quite harmless. It can be bonded with antigens. Dominique adds that with the CV-1000, they can create a cure as contagious as any disease. Robyn points out that it could also be combined with a pathogen and cause a disease in the first place. Such a disease could threaten the entire planet. Dominique and Sevarius look at each other with irritation, but Robyn adds that either way, the virus seems like a profitable venture. Dominique smiles. "I think you're going to fit in just fine, Robyn," says Dominique, putting her hands on Robyn's shoulders.
Dominique opens the door to a large vault. As Robyn and Sevarius watch from outside, Dominique brings a container of the CV-1000 inside and places it near another container marked D/I-7, the Medici Tablet, and a small gargoyle statuette. She departs and closes the vault.
The sun sets at the Clocktower and the Manhattan Clan awakens from their stone sleep. Angela stands up and the clan is relieved to see she is healed. She admits that she is a bit tired, but otherwise fine. Goliath tells her that the ones who attacked her will suffer and he moves off. Angela is eager to join him. Broadway watches her follow her father and begins to protest, but soon the whole clan is assembled on the balcony outside. Goliath tells them all that if they find these Hunters, they are not to engage them, but instead should report back to the tower. The gargoyles depart: Hudson with Bronx, Broadway with Angela, Brooklyn with Lexington, and Goliath on his own. Seconds later, Elisa arrives from the Clocktower steps. She calls for Goliath, then Angela, then anybody, but receives no answer. They are gone and Elisa is perturbed. She heads back down the stairs.
Some time later, Elisa leaves the building and walks towards her car. As she is about to get in, Jason runs up to her. Placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, he asks if she has had any word on her friend. Elisa explains that a good night's sleep helped. He then asks if she is alright. Elisa smiles and says that she's fine. "Don't worry about me, I'm a rock." Jason is glad to hear it and begins to depart. Watching him go, Elisa stops to consider for a second, and then calls to him asking if he would like to get dinner. He turns to her and smiles.
Later that night, Elisa and Jason arrive at Elisa's apartment. Elisa explains that she hopes he doesn't mind that she wasn't feeling up to a crowded restaurant. Jason is fine with it. Elisa jokes that she has one of the best stocked refrigerators on the East Coast. "With friends like mine, it's safer," she adds wryly. Cagney approaches Jason and purrs. Jason picks up the cat and pets him. Elisa points out that Cagney seems to like him. Jason agrees, suddenly nervous. Elisa takes the cat from Jason and moves away. She sets the cat down and turns to see Jason standing beside her. The two move closer and share a kiss. Goliath appears at the window and is shocked at what he is seeing. He quickly moves away, but then carefully peers back inside. He watches as Elisa pulls away from Jason and tells him that they shouldn't be kissing. Jason asks her what is wrong. She explains that for one thing, they are partners. Jason points out that that is only temporary and in a week she will be back on night shift with Bluestone. He holds her and she pulls away. Her silence reveals more. "There's someone else...?" he asks. Elisa doesn't know how to answer. She struggles to explain and finally admits that there is someone she cares for deeply, but it would be impossible to get involved with him. Outside, Goliath is hurt. He says nothing, but turns away and glides off into the night. Inside, Jason apologizes for getting carried away. He explains that there hasn't been anyone for him for a long time. He thought he was used to it. "Well, bad timing," he adds, "I'll go now." He walks out of her apartment and Elisa considers stopping him, but lets him go. She sits down on the stairs of her living room and quietly thinks.
Goliath glides through the city alone. Coming around a building he spots his quarry: the Hunters' Airship! He stops to briefly land on a ledge and observe before launching himself angrily towards the vessel. He is joined in his pursuit by Brooklyn and Lexington. Lex thought that Goliath was going to get Elisa and Goliath angrily retorts that Elisa was not available. Brooklyn asks if they should head back to the Clocktower for the rest of the clan. "No!" Goliath yells, "We take them now!" He dives towards the airship and Brooklyn and Lex look to each other, shrug, and follow their leader.
Inside the airship's cockpit, the younger male Hunter wonders to his blonde female counterpart if they are inviting attention by cruising around the city the way they are. She tells him that that is the idea. Goliath, Lex, and Brooklyn land on the airship and Goliath tears an entry door open. The door falls to the city streets below as the three gargoyles enter the craft. Brooklyn questions their course of action. It seems reckless to him. Goliath only growls at him in response. The two younger gargoyles say nothing and proceed after Goliath. They move deeper into the airship. Passing through a large hangar, they enter a corridor. Following Goliath, Brooklyn and Lexington look at each other with worry. Suddenly, Demona emerges from an alcove before them! Both she and Goliath are shocked to see each other. Goliath leaps at her, grabs her weapon, and tosses it aside (narrowly missing the other two gargoyles!). Goliath is furious. He asks Demona why she is there. "Are you in league with these Hunters?!" Demona throws him aside and tells him that she is their prey. They all are! Goliath refuses to listen to any more of her lies and orders the others to take her down. Brooklyn is all too happy to follow that order and he and Lex tackle Demona to the ground. Demona demands that they let go of her and insists that they are all in danger. Goliath still does not believe her. Demona tries to reach for her gun and Goliath does as well. Suddenly, a laser blast stops them both! The two Hunters have arrived and point their weapons at the four gargoyles. The female Hunter says "Believe her."
Act Three
The Hunters' Airship continues it's flight over Manhattan. Inside, the male and female Hunter point their weapons at the gargoyles and guide all four of them into a holding cell. As Goliath enters the cell, the female Hunter shoves him on the back of his shoulder yells, "Get in there!" With all four gargoyles inside, the male Hunter activates a remote and the bars close behind them. Goliath turns and grabs the bars only to receive an electric shock. He steps back in pain. The male Hunter tells his partner that if they are going to do this, they should get it over with. The female disagrees. All three of them should be here for that. The Hunters climb ladders on either side of the holding cell and move to another part of the ship. After watching them leave, Goliath, Lexington, and Brooklyn turn to Demona who is leaning casually in a corner. Goliath demands to know that what she is doing here if she is not allied with them. "No doubt the same thing you were doing," she replies. She saw the airship and decided to take the battle to them. She explains that the Hunters have pursued her for a thousand years and she wants to put an end to it. Lexington asks if the three Hunters are immortal like she is and Demona describes how their vendetta is passed from generation to generation, how they wiped out the last gargoyle clan in Scotland, and that they have hunted her for all of these centuries though she ha no idea of why. Goliath adds that they nearly killed Angela, and Demona reacts in anger. With eyes glowing red she vows to make the Hunters pay. Looking to Goliath, Demona insists that they must escape and that she will help the them. Brooklyn scoffs at this. He implores Goliath not to trust Demona and guesses that she'll throw them to the Hunters to buy herself time. Demona denies this. "My hatred of you and your clan pales against my hatred of them! I will not let those vermin slay another gargoyle!" Goliath, however, doesn't want escape. He wants vengeance. Demona smiles at this and wonders if he could perhaps have a little of both. Goliath tells her that there is no such thing as a "little vengeance". Demona is pleased that Goliath is, at last, thinking like a "true gargoyle". Unfortunately, she notes, his anger is clouding his judgement. They are, after all, on the Hunter's turf and they've lost the element of surprise. Escape is priority. Brooklyn reluctantly agrees, but wonders how. The cell bars are electrified. Demona suspects there must be a way to divert the current. Lexington considers the situation. The wiring must be under the floor and he tears up a small section to reveal that he is correct. However, he knows that if he simply tears the wiring out, it will probably set off an alarm. Demona removes her armband, bends it into a rod, and gives it to Lexington to use. Lex drops the gold jewelry such that it crosses two of the wires. The metal piece crackles with electricity for a moment and then releases some smoke. Goliath approaches the cell bars and gently taps one. There is no shock! He uses his strength to bend two bars wide apart. In the airship's control room, an alarm goes off. The female Hunter notes that it indicates a cell security breach and the two Hunters run out of the room. Meanwhile, the four gargoyles are free and are making their way down a corridor. Suddenly, they are stopped in their tracks by the two Hunters! Demona and Goliath, eyes glowing in fury, immediately leap at their foes. The Hunters fire their weapons and the two gargoyles are thrown backwards by the laser fire, knocking down Brooklyn in the process. Lexington, who had managed to dodge the others, spots a conduit running into a wall. He rips it free and electricity crackles as he uses the conduit as a whip and disarms the female Hunter. Demona wastes no time leaping again at the male Hunter and tackles him to the floor. Brooklyn attempts a leap at the female Hunter, but she kicks him back. The male Hunter stands up only for Demona to grasp him from behind. Meanwhile, Goliath grabs the female Hunter. The two gargoyles share a look and then, in unison, throw the two humans against a wall. The Hunters are electrocuted by the wall and fall to the floor. Brooklyn and Lexington look back at Goliath and Demona in shock. Demona begs for them to follow her out, but Goliath wants to stay. He wants the Hunters' leader, the one who nearly killed Angela. Demona explains to him that they will have their vengeance, but it must wait. "I will not wait!" Goliath yells. "i have waited a thousand years," Demona tells him, "you can wait two more nights."
A hatch on the Hunters' Airship is thrown off and the four gargoyles make good their escape. As they glide together into the night, Demona compliments Goliath on his actions in battle. She wonders if the two of them are perhaps not so different after all. "Perhaps not," Goliath scowls. Demona glides away from the others. Brooklyn is furious. He can't believe that Goliath is just letting her go. The leader explains that she was not their enemy this night. Brooklyn, unconvinced, asks about the D/I-7 she stole. Goliath brushes this off. They'll worry about that later. For now, they should head home.
Back at the airship, the two Hunters are not dead and recover slowly while removing their masks. They are revealed to be the WVRN reporter Jon Carter and Demona's assistant Robyn Correy! "You okay, sis?" Jon asks. Robyn replies that she's never been better and is grateful for their insulated suits.
Some time later, the third Hunter arrives at the Airship on his sky-sled. He lands in the hangar bay where the other two Hunters are waiting. The lead Hunter demands to know where the gargoyles are and Robyn explains that they escaped. The third Hunter is furious! He can't believe that they were allowed to escape. He can't believe that they let "The Demon" escape! Robyn explains that it was intentional and she moves to a computer console to show him why. She pulls up an image of Brooklyn and Lexington and explains that they are new gargoyles and not the same ones that they faced the previous night. There is no way to know how many gargoyles there might be. The lead Hunter, still masked, doesn't care if there is one or a thousand. They will exterminate them. Jon asks them to wait. He was listening to them while they were in the brig. He explains that the only reason the new gargoyles were attacking them was because they hurt the "big one's daughter" the previous night. "Jon," the lead Hunter growls, "if you weren't my brother I'd-" Jon interrupts to add that the other gargoyles seemed to be the Demon's enemies until they made themselves a common foe. Perhaps they even would've been their allies against her. His brother is incensed and rips off his mask to reveal that he is Jason! He yells at his younger siblings that their father spent his life hunting the Demon and that they all vowed to destroy her and her "monstrous race" even if it takes a hundred years! Robyn cooly tells her brother that she'd like to get it over with tonight if he doesn't mind. Jason asks if she has a plan and she explains that they let them go so they could follow them back "to their lair". They will destroy them all at once. Jason smiles at Jon grimly.
Goliath, Brooklyn, and Lexington arrive back at the Clock Tower and enter to find the rest of the clan waiting. Hudson wonders if they had better luck than the rest of them did. Goliath assures him that they did and menacingly adds that the Hunters have been dealt a major blow. Lexington and Brooklyn look at each other with concern.
Back at the Hunters' Airship, Robyn has acquired the signal from a tracking device and is locking in on it. Jason wonders why she didn't put the device on The Demon herself. Robyn explains that The Demon would've noticed the tracer being planted if Robyn had touched her. And besides, it wasn't neccesary. Robyn knows where to find her. The Airship approaches the Clock Tower. Robyn almost admires the gargoyles for hiding in plain sight above the police station. Jason draws a gun and is ready to attack. Robyn stops him. She begins to bring the airships's missile systems online as she explains that there could be a dozens or more gargoyles inside. Jon doubts that there is more than six noting that that is how many Xanatos brought over from Scotland. Seeing what Robyn is doing, Jon protests. She can't fire missiles at a building full of people! Robyn insures him that it will be a surgical strike. Jon argues that it makes more sense to wait until sunrise and then go in and shatter them. Robyn again disagrees. They can't count on that and pulls up an image of Dominique Destine on a monitor. She explains that this woman has never been seen at night and, moreover, she and The Demon have an identical musculoskeletal structure. It can't be a coincidence. Jon wonders how this is possible. Robyn asks him how has The Demon survived for a thousand years. "The obvious answer to both questions is sorcery!" Jason considers that The Demon might've shared this magic with the others. They could become human and walk out of the building in broad daylight and they would never know! Jon still doesn't like Robyn's plan. She turns to Jason and tells him that it is his decision. he pauses for only a moment before telling her to proceed. Meanwhile, he and Jon will make sure that none escape. "It must end tonight," he tells them, donning his mask. Jon follows his brother, but looks back briefly at his sister. The two brother launch from the airship upon sky-sleds and begin circling the Clock Tower. Jason looks down to see Elisa's Car pulling up to the building. Elisa parks and enters the building. Jason is panicked and dives downward towards the building's entrance and Elisa. Jon tries to ask him what he is doing, but Jason is gone. Inside the airship, Robyn prepares to fire the missiles in twenty seconds while Jason's sky-sled bursts through the police stations front doors! Police officers and civilians cry out in alarm and scatter to dodge the vehicle which flies through the hallways. Elisa turns and sees the sky-sled coming right at her and gasps in fear! Robyn puts her finger above the launch button. Ten more seconds. Inside the Clock Tower, Goliath explains to the Clan that two of the Hunters have paid for what they did to Angela. Lexington, perched on a platform behind Goliath, suddenly notices the tracking device on Goliath's shoulder and cries out! "Fire!" announces Robyn and presses the button. Two missiles shoot out from the airship and strike the Clock Tower which explodes in a massive cloud of fire and smoke.

When Matt Bluestone is being grilled by Jon Canmore in his reporter's guise, he tries changing the subject to the stone heads on Easter Island, as a reference to "Sentinel" (evidently Elisa told him about a few of her Avalon World Tour adventures).
A deleted scene from this episode (cut for time considerations) had the door to the Hunters' airship, after being wrenched off its hinges by Goliath during his break-in, land on the sidewalk below in front of a startled Vinnie.
